Terms of Use

Effective date: April 28, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the ROEL application ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the ROEL app on any iPhone you own or lawfully control, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service.

You may not:

copy, modify, or create derivative versions of the app;
reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, its filters, or Metal shaders;
sell, lease, or otherwise transfer the app to third parties;
remove or alter any copyright or other proprietary notices.

2. Subscriptions

The app offers the following ROEL Pro subscription options:

ROEL Pro (Monthly) — auto-renewable monthly subscription.
ROEL Pro (Annual) — auto-renewable annual subscription.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Renewal is charged within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the then-current price.

Subscriptions can be managed and cancelled in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited upon purchasing a paid subscription.

3. One-Time Purchases (Consumable)

The app offers one-time in-app purchases, including:

Instant Develop (1 roll) — develops one film roll immediately, bypassing the 24-hour wait. Consumable purchase, not transferable across devices and not restorable.
Filter Packs — themed sets of filters. Non-consumable purchase, tied to your Apple ID and restorable.

All purchases are final. Refunds are handled under Apple's refund policy. To request a refund, contact Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. Free & Paid Features

The free version of the app includes a limited set of filters and lets you shoot up to 12 frames per roll with a 24-hour development wait. ROEL Pro unlocks all filters, instant development, and extended features. The exact composition of each tier may change with app updates.

5. Content Ownership

All photos you create with ROEL belong to you. We claim no ownership over your content. Using the app does not transfer to us any rights in your photos.

6. Intellectual Property

The ROEL name, logo, interface design, filters, Metal shaders, and all other content of the app are intellectual property protected by copyright law. Unauthorised use is prohibited.

7. Limitation of Liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without any express or implied warranties. We are not liable for:

loss of data or photos;
app interruptions or downtime;
any damages arising from use of or inability to use the app.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the preceding 12 months.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms. For material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email (where available). Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes arising in connection with use of the app are resolved in accordance with the procedures set forth in the App Store Terms of Service.

10. Apple-Specific Terms (EULA)

The following provisions apply to your use of the app obtained from the Apple App Store and are required by Apple Inc. ("Apple"):

Acknowledgment. These Terms are concluded solely between you and us, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
Scope of License. The license granted to you is limited to a non-transferable license to use the app on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, and as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Maintenance and Support. We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the app.
Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
Product Claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and/or use of the app, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
Intellectual Property Rights. In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of the app infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
Legal Compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third Party Beneficiary. You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
